Fractures around the shoulder are common in osteoporotic bone.

Acute pain in the shoulder following a fall.

X rays and sometimes a CT scan if the fracture pattern is complex.

Non-Operative:  The vast majority of fractures around the shoulder can be treated non-operatively with a sling and physiotherapy.

Operative:  If the fracture is severe then surgery can be carried out.  We try our best to fix the fracture back with a plate and screws but if this is not possible  the shoulder may have to be replaced.
